PCI Compliant Web Hosting - Does your host do it for you? Visa and MasterCard helped introduce the PCI Compliance Standards for merchants and it is now actually required to be 100% compliant in order to accept Visa and MasterCard for your physical store along with your online store. PCI stands for Payment Card Industry. Headed by the two major card players, Visa and MasterCard, the PCI standards aim to protect personal information and verify that transactions processed are secure. Failure to meet these requirements can result in fines from the various credit card companies and banks, and in some cases, the removal of your ability to process credit cards. Since the inception of the PCI program, Hands-on Web Hosting has maintained that all servers in the Hands-on Network are 100% PCI Compliant. Regular testing is performed by two outside agencies to ensure that the servers are all compliant. HackerSafe, previously owned by ScanAlert and now owned by McAfee runs regularly scheduled checks on our machines. HackerGuardian, a program operated by Comodo is also run on a number of our machines. Security of servers, updates of software and regular hacking checks on our machines are all part of the daily scans preformed by these companies. The main portions of the PCI program are to maintain a secure network, protect the credit card holder information, regularly scheduled monitoring and testing of the network and restricted access to the servers. All hosting accounts in the Hands-on Network are certified PCI Compliant. At any time you may launch your own PCI Compliance test to very the network and if for any reason a portion of the check fails, we will rectify it ASAP. If you would like to have your own PCI Compliance scans performed on your site please go to one of the following sites to sign up for the completely free PCI Audit: |
